#CULTURE18

15 MAY 2018, 8.30AM – 5.30PM

DARLING PARK TOWER 3, 201 SUSSEX STREET, SYDNEY

#CULTURE18 is a collaborative and immersive experience focused on the unique facets of creating a stand-out company culture for your team and your business.   A think-tank style environment equips you with the tools to redefine and transform your own unique company culture, and create change-ready and change-resilient teams who thrive in your culture.

And that means you can attune your business to deliver improved and sustainable business outcomes.

You will engage in conversation exclusively with CEOs and leaders who embrace an innovative approach, and who are committed to creating change through creating stand out company cultures; leaders delivering lasting results. This is your opportunity to collaborate, network and engage, and make the change you’ve been seeking.

On the day you will immerse, collaborate and learn, so you too can realise solid bottom line growth

It’s time to:

  1. stop silo mentality; create “one team”, increasing engagement and teamwork
  2. stop reactive problem-solving and decision-making; develop team initiative, and proactivity
  3. stop revolving door recruitment; adopt culturally-aligned recruitment and retention, and develop employer brand equity
  4. stop drowning in bureaucracy; optimise culture-lead systems to work for the people and the business

Three quick reasons why you should join us

ACTIONABLE INSIGHTS

Guaranteed you’ll be taking action throughout the day

As a leader, it’s hard to balance continual learning and actually leading a team. The day to day demands usually win, and you end up exhausted – and no further forward.

And if you’re anything like me (and most successful leaders I know of), you’ve also invested thousands in your education and enhancing your leadership skills … That’s great – but if some of your webinars, courses and books are still ‘in the box’ – I have 65 unread books on my Kindle alone, and don’t get me started on Audible – you’re not alone.  We all do it.

It’s rarely a case of not knowing what to do – it’s not doing what you know.  With the Immersion, there is no question that you’ll start doing, and taking action straight away.

RETURN ON INVESTMENT

Best use of your time

During the Immersion, you will receive approx 7 hours of actionable, no fluff content. It’s quicker than reading a book and more than the average online course.  Conferences can be little more than speaker-fests with consultants talking theory, where you make great notes, but little action takes place.  Imagine how much more you will know about how to transform your team, and your results if you spent a full day doing nothing but working on your culture. No distractions like work, emails, meetings or the internet.  How much better equipped will you be to lead a successful team after that one day of learning actionable strategies than you were before?

THE POWER OF PROXIMITY

Power of the network

One of the biggest benefits of the #CULTURE Summit (and #CULTURE Bites) is direct face-to face access to the experts and a high performing culture advocate cohort.  Proximity is power – we are all immersed in the same room to learn and grow.  And if you have a question, you can ask it – you don’t have to put up with other people’s answers, or waiting for an emailed reply.  You will benefit from the expertise in the room, and the benefit from being held accountable by a peer group as passionate about leading well as you are.

TEAM ENGAGEMENT

THIS IS FOR YOU if you want to truly engage your team and unleash their potential, so they become more productive, creative and innovative.

RECRUITMENT & RETENTION

THIS IS FOR YOU if you want to make recruitment easier, enhance your employer brand and reduce your employee turnover.

COMMUNICATION

THIS IS FOR YOU if you want to put an end to silos and miscommunication and truly build “one team”.

GREAT PLACE TO WORK

THIS IS FOR YOU if you want to create a workplace and workspace you’re truly excited to be in every day, and a team that surprises and delights your customers

PROACTIVITY & OWNERSHIP

THIS IS FOR YOU if you want to stop reactive problem-solving and decision-making, by developing team initiative and proactivity.

FREEDOM FROM BUREAUCRACY

THIS IS FOR YOU if you want to stop drowning in policies and procedures, by building a team who do the right thing without the bureaucracy

YOUR CONVERSATION STARTERS

JAMIE GETGOOD: Positive culture through the closure of an industry

With GM Holden closing its manufacturing operations in Australia, Jamie has taken leadership in the development of a best practice Transition Centre giving support, advice and training to help employees transition into new work.  He will share how GM Holden maintained high employee engagement and increased their enviable “right first time” manufacturing measure, despite the closure.

As a result of the work in this area, Jamie was named as the Australian Leader/Manager of the year at the Australian Excellence Awards in 2017.  He’ll show you why.

PETE MURRAY: How workplace design impacts culture

What sort of culture do you want in your business?  It’s one thing identifying that, another getting the team exhibiting the right behaviours and thriving in that culture.  How does the rest of your business – especially your physical environment – support that culture?  If you want cross-pollination of ideas and an end to silos, could the reason you don’t have it be because you are actually sabotaging it?

Pete Murray knows exactly what it takes – and he will share with us the journey that got him from there to here, by creating the workspace that reinforces the Dimension Data Australia culture in every way.

HEIDI DENING: Human-centred design plus education creates healthy, thriving work cultures

Heidi is an award-winning workplace wellness consultant and speaker, the CEO of Workable Wellness, one of only a small group of leading professionals in Australia who are accredited and dedicated to supporting human health and well-being in the built environment from the International WELL™ Building Institute. Heidi will share tips in a series of practical sessions that we can take back to the workplace and implement immediately.

MICHAEL ELLIS: How to bring mindfulness to everything you do

Vinomofo is a disruptive leader in the wine space – they have created a tribe, both of their own team and their customers and are loud and proud, putting their culture first in everything they do.  Michael is Head of Culture, and as well as sharing their story, will lead us through a mindfulness session, and showcasing what Vinomofo do best.

GREG MULLINS: Culture and Values - starting at the top

As Former Commissioner of Fire & Rescue NSW, Greg will share his story of how he lead the change in culture from white collar vs blue collar, no women firefighters, and extreme hazing as a form of welcome, to one of inclusion, focus on purpose, and team as family.  A story of true grit and resilience, Greg will show how you as a leader, can lead and support your team through massive change.

NIKKI BEAUMONT: Placing people first

Beaumont Consulting is the go-to recruiter for clients with heart – not only is their own culture palpable, how they choose which clients to work with, and which candidates to place where, all comes down to culture.  So how do Beaumont bring their own culture to life, and how can we bring the same insights into our hiring and leadership practices?  Nikki will share her insights on the Power Panel.

SUSANNE KING: How to be an awesome place to work

Insentra came 8th in the Great Places to Work survey in 2016 (their first attempt) and 4th in 2017 – so how do they keep making consistent improvements on their company culture?  Susanne is instrumental on keeping the train in the tracks, and will share with us in this interactive Power Panel some of the keys to becoming – and staying – not just a Great Place to Work, but an awesome place to work that unleashes the best in everybody.

NATALIE TAYLOR: Merging cultures

How do you acquire and merge two culturally diverse businesses, and bring two teams together that have been been competitors for 20 years – with a bit of a geographical challenge thrown in for good measure?   Just how do you navigate all that change?  Natalie has had the most challenging year of her career – and promises to take us along for the ride as she shares her story.

JAMES KEMP - Walking the Talk as a Great Place to Work

Amicus, as well as co-hosting the #CULTURE18 event, work with companies to create incredible workspaces which support the culture of the company.  But they also made it to the Great Places to Work list themselves.  So how do they go about engaging and inspiring their own team … and how do they keep innovating to stay on that list?  James will share the Amicus story, about how they not only help others be great places to work, but how they walk their talk.

DON’T MISS OUT

LIMITED SEATS AVAILABLE NOW

Our big idea

To get business leaders together to talk in depth about company culture, and how to engage employees by leading with purpose – leaders who actually walk the talk and have made huge differences to their results through creating a business which is whole, consistent, and complete, with complementary management, operations, strategy, and culture.

#CULTURE18 is our 4th immersion event – a full day of intimate interactive sessions, think tanks and masterminds all rolled into one.

Our promise: It’s not a speaker fest where you get sold to by consultants.

Only those living and breathing culture as a key strategy are invited to speak, to share their knowledge and experience of what’s gone right, as well as what lessons they have learned along the way. We choose every element of the immersion to stimulate everyone (yup, including the speakers) and get us all thinking about how we could do things a little differently, starting today.

Change is happening all around us, so it’s not just about looking back, it’s about looking forward – this year’s theme is “DO  |  DREAM  |  DARE.”

THE POWER OF PROXIMITY

Power of the network

Your experience

Each element of the Summit is designed as an experience – to get you thinking differently about how you engage your team. How you can take your everyday experiences and give them a twist.  So be prepared to be immersed, not just inspired.

It’s not a typical speaker fest at a fancy (or faceless) venue, it’s an intimate, thought-provoking gathering of thought leaders sharing what works – and what doesn’t work – in a collaborative think-tank style environment.  You can have your say, have your questions answered, and equip yourself with the strategies and tools to start making the changes you need to make things happen for yourself, your team and your business.

The speakers

Leaders who have walked the path of building and maintaining sustainable, high performing company cultures, engaged people and teams, and seen the impact of their efforts on their bottom lines.  No consultants.  No selling.

The talks

Imparting know-how and insights, and the highs and the lows of their leadership journeys; the mistakes they have made, the successes they’ve achieved as disruptive leaders, as well as the strategies they use every day to develop and maintain their company culture.

STRATEGIES

Learn the specific culture development strategies used by some of the most innovative big and small companies, not just text book theories.

TALENT

Gain a deeper understanding of how to optimise talent through culture, teams and business, how to sustain employee engagement, and develop high performing, resilient teams.

TOOLS

Develop your own disruptive leadership toolkit by discovering the latest trends, techniques, and tools to help you build and maintain thriving cultures.

CONNECT

Connect with like-minded leaders to brainstorm new ways of improving the employee experience, and in turn, your results.

ABOUT YOUR CO-HOSTS

CCI:  We serve game changers and culture advocates

Changing Change International (CCI) is a global consultancy that specialises in partnering with successful business leaders to produce breakthroughs in performance, and transformation in critical areas of their business, by creating attunement in thinking and behaviours that are fundamental to success.

Bottom line?  We want to change the world through changing the culture of organisations, unleashing the best in every person, and the best in every workplace.

We founded Changing Change International (CCI) in 2016 with the vision of changing the way change happens in business – creating culture transformation and change that is sustainable, replicable and ecological, so that the culture, team and business is change-ready and change-resilient.  Everyone gets to do what they love, and love what they do, and enjoy better results.

AMICUS:  Innovative workspaces and inspired organisations

Amicus creates workspaces for organisations that want to translate their business, brand and cultural objectives into their office environment, and the experiences it delivers. Organisations we’ve worked with had an appetite to rethink how they inspire people through the workplace.

At Amicus we work with you to define, design, deliver and delight with inspirational workspaces that invigorate and energise your people and your entire organisation.

We know that your workplace environment influences everything in your business. We work with our clients to transform their workspaces and execute their strategies for business, brand and cultural goals. We accompany you through the positive transition and help you to rethink how your workspaces can inspire your employees and your customers.

Together we can positively impact 100,000 people through each Summit. Sound ambitious?

Well, maths isn’t my strongest point, but start with all the speakers, partners and attendees – you – who will learn new insights.

Add on all the people whose lives you will change by implementing even one key learning from the day (and you will get many more insights than one).

Add on your teams who will then work differently with their colleagues, in turn cascading the effect to your suppliers, and clients, customers.

They will in turn share with THEIR teams, clients and customers.  Those clients and customers will share with others, buy more, more frequently and more will join them.

And everyone goes home in a different state of mind, and interacts differently with their families, children, neighbours.  Even complete strangers will benefit, unknowingly.

In 2018, Changing Change International (CCI) is partnering with passionate workplace environment specialists Amicus to co-host the Summit.

Amicus work with their clients to define, design, deliver and delight with inspirational workspaces that invigorate and energise people and entire organisations. Amicus’ mission is to positively influence a million workers globally.

The ripple effect.  Let’s make it big together.

EVENT PARTNERS

A huge thank you goes to our event partners who help support the event.

CREATING MOMENTS OF WOW

Every element of the Summit has been designed to help you think differently, and think about the tweaks that you can make to your every day activities to create moments of WOW for your team, and your clients and customers.

To immerse you – not just inspire you – takes a team, and we are very happy to partner with these companies for the Summit.

About this year’s theme

DO  |  DREAM  |  DARE

DO

In our experience, it’s never a problem of not knowing what to do.

There is a ton of information out there, at your finger tips 24 hours a day, on the web, in books.  Google returns a search for the words “company culture” of about 186,000,000 results in 0.78 seconds.  You know what you could be doing to improve your results, improve your company culture, and help your team to thrive in your culture.

The problem is you aren’t doing what you already know.

The Summit is designed to help you bridge the knowing/doing gap so you can get started today.

DREAM

Let your imagination run wild.  If you can’t imagine something better than you have, then you can’t have it.

Dream is about curiosity and embracing innovation, and opening to the possibility that there might just be a way for you to have the company culture that you’ve only ever dreamed about.

The Summit will add to your existing toolkit, with a vision for the future.

DARE

Once you do what you know, add to your toolkit, and you can see what a better culture could look like, the only thing left to do is dare to go after it.  It takes courage for a leader to be leave behind what they are currently doing, even when they know it isn’t getting them the results they want.

Dare is about disruptive leadership – about putting culture front and centre into everything you do, not settling for “best practice”, for mediocrity, for beige.  Dare to stand up and stand out for what you believe in, with your purpose and values front and centre.

The Summit will challenge you and support you to “dare big”.

What’s one thing you need to know about company culture?  Watch a short taster of our #CULTURE17 Sydney Summit Keynote, Martin Creighan from AT&T sharing the one thing you need to know, and then watch Martin explain the “Grateful Share” concept (5.35mins), hear what Kirsty Simmonds from AMP and Deme MacDonald from MaxAus Consulting thought, and gain an overview of what you can expect from one of our #CULTURE Summits.

An exceptional day of practical education, also every little attention to detail had been taken care of.

Very informative and refreshing!

Very real – didn’t just talk about everything being great, things go wrong and it’s OK.

A fantastic event. The speakers provided great insights and were very motivating and inspirational.

Insightful and helpful with real life examples  Love the idea of creating magic!

Great to hear the differing experiences, reinforcing the importance of learning and of giving back.

Lively and interesting. Great overview of building culture from the ground up and being authentic.

Love to see their passion and let it ripple across the room today – it was awesome. It was so great to see a wealth of knowledge in one room.

We were able to take away many tools and valuable stories to implement in our own business.

A fabulous summit with some VERY interesting guest speakers. These speakers encouraged reflection of the purpose of moving forward. This was a fabulous day of networking in a meaningful manner. Overall a HUGE thanks for a GREAT day.

The Summit wasn’t your usual speaker-fest – there were no consultants talking about theory to sell their services, instead we were engaged by a carefully curated line up of leaders from big corporate, agile start ups, government bodies, and everything in between, who are getting great results in their business, every day.

FAQs

What's the deal with the macaroons?

We love macaroons for a start – getting a tray of them is definitely going to make us smile, just like creating incredible work environments – you know the ones where you look forward to being there, and when you walk in you can actually feel the difference.

Macaroons are also that interesting combination of crunchy and soft (if done right!) and not too sweet – that balancing act of getting all the elements just right, just like providing the right tension between support and challenge to your team members that brings out their best.

And fittingly, there are three macaroons, and our culture attunement model Culture Incorporated (attunement because it goes beyond simple alignment) focuses on three key areas – culture + teams + business. The three areas need to be in tune with each other for transformation to occur – and last. Because one macaroon is never enough.

And whilst we could have had stuffy corporate pics on our website – well, that just isn’t us.

Why's the event in an office, not a hotel?

We know some people will think that an event put on in an office space isn’t going to be that great … but reality is, this isn’t just a Summit, it’s an immersion.

So true to our word, we are going to immerse you in an environment where you can see and feel the culture that has been created. Being held in the newly finished offices of Dimension Data Australia at Darling Park Tower 3 (right next door to Salesforce), the office space will open your mind to what is possible.  You’ll get a tour too.  And that has to be better than a sterile hotel, any day.

Engage with another space:  Ground Floor, Darling Park Tower 3, 201 Sussex Street, Sydney
